Re-imagining performance and film making in the virtual space
Christopher Davenport worked with Artisan to create a film for The Paris Opera's Third Stage, an online platform.
A baletic performance captured through real time scanning, and animated procedurally by Cai Matthews. Chris's role then was to bring the
performance to life. Using unbiased physical rendering, we in effect re-lit and re-shot the performace. Creating a textural layer as the original scan was sampled
in a virtual space. Proccess artifact and texture is something that's rare in CG animation, and the dual layer of an imperfect scan, that's then photographed virtually
creates digital aftifacts and a layer of uncertain fidelity.
